The Nitecore P16 is part of the Precise Series with a maximum output of 960 Lumens output. With seven selectable modes and brightness levels the P16 is ready for the most demanding activities. A true innovation is the patented power indicator that is integrated into the switch located on the body which displays the remaining battery power.
As part of the Precise Series the Nitecore P16 has an innovative two-button interface and generates 960 lumens in Turbo mode
- Lower: 1 Lumens
- Low: 65 Lumens
- Mid: 230 Lumens
- High: 960 Lumens
At the highest output of 960 lumens the light will operate at 3 minutes before switching to a lower mode to prevent overheating. In addition to the brightness levels you will find the P16 has two special modes. The modes of SOS and Location Beacon are easily accessed by holding the mode switch temporarily. When you want to exit the special mode (i.e. SOS or Location Beacon) simply press the switch again and you will return to the prior brightness level. The P16 fits easily into your hand at just under 6 inches in length. Knurling along the body and tailcap make this LED flashlight easy to hold whether it’s wet or you are wearing gloves. Heat vents are cut out at the head of the flashlight and the stainless steel crenulated bezel protects components gives you additional options in tactical situations.
Nitecore P16 Flashlight Highlights
Nitecore P16 at Night
The Nitecore P16 is a great all around flashlight. It’s size and weight means that it’s not just an option for tactical uses, but it’s also a great light for every day carry. One of our favorite aspects of this light is the two button operation. The rear tailcap switch that integrates tail stand ability makes it easy to operate the light even with gloves. Changing modes truly is easy with the mode button. Changing from the lowest output of 1 lumens to the maximum of 960 lumens is quick and easy and accessing Strobe or Location Beacon is equally easy by simply holding the mode switch momentarily. The two button operation makes it great for those who have tactical demands as you can change the modes easily with varying grips. And for those who want a great light for hiking or camping it’s weight is light enough to be stored in nearly any pack while still having a throw distance (289 meters) that will light your way wherever adventure takes you. What’s in the Box? – Accessories
One of the primary accessories that people look to incorporate with their flashlights is how you carry your light. To help with carrying options you will find an included holster, lanyard, and clip. Nitecore understands that part of using your light means maintenance. To help you with maintaining your light you will find a spare tail cap and a spare O-ring. Nitecore recommends wiping the threads every six months and coating with a thin coating of silicon-based lubricant which is a great time to evaluate the condition of the O-rings as this light is classified as waterproof and submersible to 2m (IPX-8).
Question 1: Does the P16 come with batteries?
Answer: The P16 does not come with a battery. You have the option of using either 2 x CR123A batteries or 1 x 18650 Li-ion. The light was tested under ANSI/NEMA FLI standards with both lights and the 1 x 18650 Li-ion battery. The 18650 L-ion battery was the light that demonstrated the longest run times at every brightness level and as such we would recommend this battery for use with your P16.
Question 2: How does the patented battery indicator work?
Answer: The battery indicator can be engaged by simultaneously pressing the mode switch and the tailcap switch. The series of blinks that will follow will indicate the voltage remaining of your battery. For example when the battery has its maximum of 4.2 V, you will find the light blinks 4 times in quick succession, followed by a 1 second pause and then 2 more blinks indicating a voltage of 4.2V.
